ZA POBEDOY FEEDING BAR
The new restaurant and bar in the center of Minsk was an unusual interior design project for us: we wanted to make an eclectic “on the verge” place that surprises guests, but not too much. At each stage of our work we monitored shades, materials, wood furnishings, combinations and tried to balance them. There are a lot of non-standard solutions in the design that require special attention, long communications with contractors, sometimes even “the invention of the bicycle”.
STYLE: SURREALISM, ECLECTICISM
The main idea of surrealism is to go beyond reality and try to reflect human dreams, fantasies, thoughts from the hidden corners of the brain.
INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE
The architecture of this restaurant-bar is rather complicated, and a column with a fire hydrant in the center is always a “gift” for a designer. You had to work hard to design an ergonomic room!
DESIGN ELEMENTS
There are many non-standard solutions in the interior design that require special attention and elaboration, the invention of the bicycle in some matters.
The interior design is an eclectic mix: contains an abundance of antiques that have been sawn, rebuilt and painted in wine color. A million new reflections and highlights have appeared in the modern design thanks to the mirrored bar area and column.
We decided to focus on contemporary art, that’s why in the center of the hall there is the most striking accent — the sculpture “Worker and Kolkhoz Woman”, made in the most modern interpretation.An alien woman, gesture hands, a woman with hair curlers crawling out of a pipe — all these are strange sculptural compositions that cannot but surprise the guest.
The ceiling is painted with frescoes of warm tones, depicting paintings and characters from bygone eras with the attributes of the modern world. You can find the owner of the bar on it and a portrait of the artist himself.
The VIP area is closed from the main hall by curtains made of dense cellophane with a print.
There is also a portrait of the designer among the characters.
There are tables with pictures on the table-top on a lifting mechanism (which allows tables to transform from dining to bar ones)
There are a lot of hidden surprises in the interior: frescoes on the ceiling with the heroes of paintings and characters from bygone eras, curtains made of thick cellophane with a print, tables with paintings on the countertop on a lifting mechanism, bathrooms with rounded walls, and much more.
INTERIOR TRANSFORMATION
During the day, the interior looks more restrained, but in the evening it is transformed and starts to look like a bar. In the late afternoon, the restaurant closes for an hour, during which the staff changes into a different uniform and the interior changes: the paintings are turned over, the dining tables are raised to a semi-height, the guests start to enjoy the soft glow and dim lighting of the bar, the chairs are removed, giving way to the dance floor, DJ plays tracks, the guests drink and dance. Inscriptions that are not visible during the day appear on the walls.
